Coffee is one of the world’s most loved beverages with more than a trillion cups being consumed each year. The first-ever cup spread its fragrance in the 9th century in the highlands of Ethiopia and from there spread to countries like Egypt, Persia, and Armenia before reaching Europe. Coffee is made from the concoction prepared from powered coffee beans harvested from the plant of genus “Coffea”.
Today the Coffee industry at large employs more than 25 million people around the world with 5 million in Brazil alone. Ethiopia, Finland, Denmark and the United States are the major consumers of Coffee in the world. 70% of the world’s coffee is produced by America. Commercially, more than 50 countries in the world harvest Coffee, and it is a major export.
Most people consume coffee as a concoction mixed with milk and sugar, while many fancy black coffee.

The coffee beans from coffee berries undergo a series of processes before being powdered. The skin of the berries is removed from the seeds. Then the seeds are fermented, washed with water, roasted, dried, and sorted before being packed as coffee beans. Each process is carried in certain environments to achieve maximum flavor and best quality.
Coffee is known to have its own disadvantages and advantages. Studies have proved that coffee prevents the chances of various diseases like Parkinson’s disease and heart diseases. But it increases the chances of diseases associated with acid reflux.
Caffeine, a well-known nerve stimulant, is a major ingredient in coffee. Caffeine is also found to be addictive and people have reported increased depression if they fail to consume coffee at a particular time. The quantity of caffeine various with the type of coffee. While decafs have 2 to 3 mgs of caffeine, drip coffee has upto 175 ml of caffeine in it.
